January 18, 2003 To: Monthly Meetings From: CPQM - Ministry & Oversight Search for Our Quaker Roots Many Friends have been active in College Park Quarterly Meeting (CPQM) for many years. Their knowledge and experience is of great values to our Quaker community. We read about the lives of Quakers in the past. Now we may sit with experienced Quakers silently in worship and many of us do not know them well. Our roots are important for Quaker witness today. The Ministry & Oversight Committee of the CPQM would like to invite those Friends who have been Quakers for many years (about 25 and more years) to write their Quaker Story. Each Friend has her/his unique experience to share. Each Quaker Story would be published as an individual paper; it could be placed at the CPQM web site, and some Quaker Stories could be printed in Friends Bulletin. It is also possible that a collection of Quaker Stories could be printed in a special publication. The Ministry & Oversight Committee believes that learning from our past is very important for our future. We would like to ask all Monthly Meetings to help us in the development of Quaker Stories. Could you please send us the names of Friends in your Meetings who have been active Quakers for many years? We would send a letter to these Friend, inviting them to share their life experience as Quakers. We would also provide some guidance for writing their Quaker Story. Please send suggested names to Vashek Cervinka, 3416 Monte Vista Ave., Davis, CA 95616-4931; e-mail address cervinka at dcn dot org. Thank you, Vashek Cervinka
